Advert from the Bridport News in 2013 after the first series of Broadchurch

Below is an advertisement published in the Bridport News back in 2013. It amused me at the time so I took a copy of it.

The ITV drama series Broadchurch had reached the conclusion of its first series. Broadchurch was partially filmed at West Bay and featured the local landscape. The local tourist industry hoped the stunning images shown would bring holiday makers flocking to the area.

Harbour Newsagents of West Bay decided to exploit the notoriety Broadchurch brought to their shop. They placed this tongue in cheek advert in the local paper. Their shop was used as the setting for the newsagents shop run by Jack Marshall. Jack was one of the murder suspects in the TV programme. It was revealed he had a dubious past and the character met an unfortunate end.

In the advert Harbour Newsagent declare:

Formerly J Marshalls newsagents of Broadchurch.

Tours of the shop given at quiet times.

The preferred news agency of cast and crew alike.
