Over the years Ive seen petrol stations selling all sorts of brands. Over time many of these have disappeared. Elf and Mobil are two that were familiar names once that have now gone, merged with other brands. There was even Dorsets own Minster petrol sold from small independent garages. It seemed we were to be left with just the few industry big boys and the supermarket own brands.
I hadnt noticed any new names on filling stations for ages. Then in late 2012 Harvest Energy logos started popping up on independent forecourts.
It seems that this coincided with American oil giant Conoco closing their Plymouth depot. It decided it no longer wanted to sell its Jet branded petrol and diesel down here in the South West. Harvest saw an opportunity and signed up a fair proportion of the former Jet dealers.
In East Devon there are Harvest forecourts at Honiton, Sidmouth and just outside Exeter. Further down the county there are several around the Torbay and Newton Abbot area.
Harvest didnt manage to grab all the former Jet sites though,. I know of two that went to Texaco and another that became a Murco petrol station.
