Independent Television (ITV) reached the South West of England in 1961 with the start up of Westward Television.
Over the following decades Westward was replaced by TSW (Television South West). TSW lost their franchise to Westcountry Television. Westcountry were taken over by Carlton TV. Carlton eventually merged with Granada Television to form one giant company, ITV, covering the whole of England and Wales.
Each of the companies had their own identities and logos. Below is is video someone has created showing these ‘station idents’ in chronological order from Westward through to Carlton.
