I spotted this in rural West Dorset back in July 2013 and stopped to take a photo. A compound containing road signs, traffic cones and sets of temporary traffic lights, nothing particularly unusual about that.
What made me pull over and take a photo on my mobile phone was that two of the traffic lights were switched on and shining red lights as can be seen below. They were pointing at 90º to the road so not likely to confuse anyone, but still off-putting and wasting power.
After dark they will be even more obvious to passers by. Thorncombe’s very own red light district.
